Calaveras

I grew up in a house where Dia de los Muertos was always celebrated – ofrendas to loved ones were built and epic parties were had. Many cultures believe that in the afterlife we are surrounded by the people we love and get to keep doing all the things that make us happy in life, free from annoying earthly burdens, like pain, disease, bill collectors… and, well, death. We’re already dead, so what’s left to do but have fun? Drink too much, eat too much, dance til we drop, and maybe even marry the skeleton of our dreams.
